Richard and I both agreed that we didn't want a large wedding party because we wanted to keep it simple. Richard will be having his best friend, Derek as his Best Man and his younger brother Ryan as a Groomsmen. Angela will be having her mom, Christine as her Maid of Honour and cousin, Joanne, as a Bride's Maid. Below is a little introduction to the Bridal Party
Christine Andrews - Maid of Honor
Bride's side, Mother of the Bride christinesoule@hotmail.com I'm so happy and proud that mom will be my Maid of Honour on our special day. There isn't enough words in the dictionary to describe how much my mom means to me. Thanks maman. Since I'm horrible with putting together the right words, I found this poem that is just a glimmer of how I feel.
I realize as I marry what it takes to be a wife.
It takes the things you taught to me all throughout my life.
It’s believing in another’s dream until it has come true.
Cheering in the background, “I am so proud of you!”
It’s having your convictions and admitting when you're wrong.
It’s showing you have weaknesses but knowing that you’re strong.
And so the day they say to us, “We pronounce you man and wife,”
I’ll strive to be just like you, the one who gave me life.
Thank You Mom For Everything.

Derek Wharrie - Best Man
Groom's side, Best Friend
So when I asked both Richard and Derek when they met, their responses were, "Many, many, many years ago." So although the time is not known when they met, they do know that they met through Scouts. They have so much in common, it's almost unnatural. First of all, their mothers have the similar name, Richards mom is Rose, Derek's - Rosemary. Second of all, Richard has 5 kids in his family (4 boys & 1 girl) and Derek has 4 kids (3 boys and 1 girl) I know this isn't too exciting but the most fascinating part is that the kid's names in Richard's family start with the letter 'R', and all the kid's names in Derek's family start with, you guessed it 'D'. So, alrighty, you see the where this is leading. Richard and Derek have many stories to tell, and all they have to do is say this one sentence, "Remeber when...." and they both crack up laughing. I must admit, they don't 'fess up on all the times that they have gotten into trouble, and I'm not sure I want to know them all! I do know that they have a bond together that I have never seen between 2 friends. I know Richard is proud to have Derek as his "Best Man" and I also know that later on in life, he will still be his best man.
Joanne Grebby - Bridesmaid
Bride's side, Cousin j_grebby@hotmail.com Joanne only has one cousin on her mother's side, and that's Angela (me!). With only 3 years apart between us, we were always together. It wasn't always blissful however - actually a lot of the time was spent in the back seat, fighting over the cooler that was placed between us to avoid the fights. We have travelled a lot together, visiting places like Florida, Ottawa (thousands of times), camping trips, and taking a cruise during my 13th birthday. Joanne holds a special place in my heart - she is the most strong minded person, and when she knows what she wants, she does everything to get it. She loves to read, play the piano and most of all, travel! It wouldn't be a special day if Joanne wasn't there to celebrate with me.
Ryan Helmy - Groomsman
Groom's side, Brother
Ryan is Richard's younger brother of 5 years. Although they have completely different personalities, they often share the same interests. These include camping, hiking (both worked for Scouts Canada, at the same camp, I might add), as well, the both work for the Canadian Ski Patrol (again, at the same ski hill). However, it isn't always 'fun times' when the 2 are together - as typical brothers, they have their fights. They thought it would be a good adventure for the 2 of them to go on a week long road trip around Alberta. Both of them survived - but I would have loved to be a fly on the wall for that week! Joking aside, Richard loves his little brother, and like any other older brother, he wants the best for Ryan. We are excited that Ryan agreed to be a part of our special day.
