Our Story
Richard and I met on a blind date, however we were lucky because we were given eachother's email address prior to going out. By the time we did meet up, we had been emailing eachother for over 3 weeks. I was worried about meeting Richard because we had so much in common and I really wanted to 'connect' with him. We finally met and went out for dinner - the night was filled with laughter as we were cracking jokes. We had instant chemistry...taking day trips to Niagara Falls, going camping and just hanging out. Both of us agree that we knew early on that there was something special - and we always talked about the future together.
The Proposal
Richard proposed at Nigel and Mom's cottage in the summer of 2005. I was up there alone and I was hoping that Richard was going to come up when he was done work. I was outside watering the garden, and I turned around, and there he was. Since I'm such a nice girl, I was making supper for him and we were sitting on the couch, just chatting. He told me to close my eyes....when I was told to open them, he had a ring box open and 'popped' the question. We were both excited, however, I must admit, since we have always talked about the future, I knew he would some day ask me - I just didn't know it was going to be then. I later found out that he had the ring for a couple of months, and just didn't find the right time to ask. I'll never forget that day at the cottage for the rest of my life.
